Life

Yesterday, I had a unique and humbling experience that has been weighing heavily on mind. Last night was men's church ball. We all know that men's church ball means a loss of blood, morals, and possible membership. Kidding all aside, as we were playing in the second quarter a gentleman collapsed on the floor and lost consciousness immediately. Two ER doctors from the other team quickly assessed the situation and eventually began performing CPR. At this point it's not cool. Eventually the ambulance arrived and they began using the defibrillator. After about a half hour, CPR and the defibrillator was still being used; he eventually was taken to the hospital. From what I understand he passed away. Never in my life have I seen anyone look relatively healthy one minute and pass away shortly thereafter.

I'm still trying to assess the lesson to be learned from this experience. My deepest and most sincere condolences go to his family and friends. It was a very sad situation.

Wow. That is really tough. Tragedies like that really make you stop and think about your own mortality and how each of us could go at any moment. How sudden and shocking for this man's family.

Watching someone pass away peacefully is one thing, but to have to watch someone being administered to is something that you usually only see on TV. Chris mentioned to me that this man seemed healthy and fit. You never know when it is your time to go. We're sorry you had to see this and our condolences go to the family as well.

Wow! That is horrible! Life is fragile. Did you know the man very well? Are you ok? That would be so abrupt and hard for a family for death to be so unexpected.
We should all take some lesson from your experience.

Experiences like this really affect your perspective of things. They remind you of what is most important in life: those that you love. My prayers are with the family. I can't imagine what they are going through.
